The KenBrink area has seen a tendency in the last six months towards houses being robbed in the middle of the day. These robberies are extremely quick, with the robbers entering and leaving the house in some cases, in under two minutes.
The robbers usually enter the property by lifting sliding gates or forcing open swing gates. They usually use a crowbar or a pick-head to force the gates
By securing your gates you can significantly reduce the likelihood of being broken into.
Sliding gates
- Ensure that you have an anti-lift device is installed on the gate. These can be easily welded onto your gate.
- Ensure that your gate rail is protected and is not easily accessible so that a crow bar cannot gain access to it.
Swing gates
- Make sure you have magnetic locks installed and that they are activated when the gate is closed.
Pedestrian gates
- Ensure that your pedestrian gates are locked
- Make sure that the locks are shielded by a plate so that a crow bar cannot be inserted between the lock and the frame.
Gate alarms
- There are now various products on the market designed to protect the main gate from being breached therefore reducing the incidences of driveway attacks and home invasions.
